The first stage: The tip of the boot
Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2:34AM Our trip to Calabria was like a custom designed holiday just for me. Someone had planned a week in the southern most point of mainland Italy and filled it with all of the things I love to do. Then we came back and I was sadly reminded that I'm not on holiday, I'm studying for my Masters. So I've spent the last month mostly sitting right here at my desk, researching, reading, thinking, writing and stressing about being a student again for the first time in many years. And it's not over yet. But as we're off to Crete on Sunday for our second stage (pronounced staarrzsh for fancy people) I felt I had better hurry up and blog about Calabria.
So what did we do there?
We made bread
We ate bread
We got started on some Pecorino cheese...
...and made some fresh Ricotta
We visited a bergamot grove...
and fell in love with its owner
We made traditional Calabrian pasta
We discovered and slept in some ancient towns
We were freed from the malocchio (evil eye)
We had some time to reflect
And of course, we ate some sensational food
Grazie mille a La Condotta Slow Food di Aspromonte, it was an honour.

Oh it all looks so sumptious. I am seriously envying you your life right now.
Leith and I looked at the airfares to Italy a few weeks ago and promptly realised it was beyond our budgets. But we did enjoy dreaming of it, if only for a short while.
Oh, that would have been so lovely. I would send you some prosciutto if Australian Customs would let me.
I'm looking for a great quotes that i can use on my everyday task and duties. Lucky enough to drop by on your blog. Thanks. askjer askjer - moncler shop 2012.
