Going Pro
Monday, November 21, 2011 at 3:17AM Without consulting a dictionary, I can think of two definitions of the word "Professional". The first would be someone who has skills above and beyond the level of amateur. The other is a person who gets paid for what they do. I'm choosing to adopt the latter when I say I'm a professional chocolatier! It sounds even better in Spanish: Soy Chocolatera!
Whilst my chocolate creations may not meet the visual standards of professionalism, they were tasty enough to earn some money! Yep, I've been paid to make chocolates. Even better than that, my first paying customer submitted a Christmas order! I don't have a logo, or even a company name as yet, but these are minor details, because soy Chocolatera!

I was watching the movie Chocolat on the plane and it reminded me of you so much, the gorgeous Juliette Binoche and the chocolates, you can totally be in that movie!! So proud of you mi amor!

Amazingly enough, this summer I was staying near the town where they filmed Chocolat, so of course we went to visit! On the chocolate front it was a bit of a let down. The chocolate store that was once filled with Juliet Binoche's delicious creations lies empty. The only thing to mark it's tasty history is a note in a plastic sleeve stuck to the window saying "Chocolat was filmed here".
The town of Flavigny itself however is gorgeous and the highlight was lunch at a farmers' restaurant run by farmers' wives serving simple meals made from their own produce. Plus, the town is famous for its anise flavoured lollies that they sell in gorgeous tins. They're not as good as chocolate, but the combination of lunch and Flavigny anise-flavoured sweets was enough to console me on that particular day.
Unreal! They're so beautiful!!!!!
Soy Chocolatera indeed. I'm also a chocolate lover. I have a sweet tooth and I can say that your chocolates are really mouthwatering even just by looking at their pictures.
Chocolate goodness! So mouthwatering.
